Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use the Caring to Care resource?
Caring to Care is made up of two parts — the instruction book, which offers ideas, examples, and reflections, and the blank caregiver’s guide, where you record the details that matter most about your loved one.
You can work through the book and guide at your own pace. Some people start with the easy sections first; others begin with the most important details. There’s no right way — just start where you feel most comfortable and continue from there.
How can I fill in the blank guide?
There are several ways to complete your caregiver’s guide — choose what works best for you:
On your computer: Open the PDF version of the blank guide in a PDF filler (like Adobe Acrobat) and type directly into the fields.
In a document: Use the headings and prompts to create your own version in a Word document or Google Doc.
By hand: Print the blank guide and write in your responses.
Be creative — this is your guide. Make it personal, flexible, and true to you and your loved one.
IMPORTANT! Please remember that your caregiver’s guide is meant to be updated regularly and shared with individuals and organizations who will need this information. When selecting a method of recording your guide, choose one that you will find easy to change and share.
What if I don’t need all the pages?
That’s perfectly fine. Every family’s situation is unique. You can delete or skip pages that don’t apply, and focus on what matters most.
What if I need more space or extra pages?
You can easily duplicate a section in your PDF or word document, or print additional pages by hand. Many caregivers find it helpful to add extra notes or photos — feel free to make it your own.
Do I have to complete it all at once?
Not at all. Many caregivers fill it out gradually, adding details over time. Some sections may feel easier to complete than others — that’s okay. Each small step adds up to something meaningful.
This process is an act of love. It’s not about perfection — it’s about ensuring your loved one’s care, comfort, and happiness continue in the way you know best. I hope this resource brings you comfort, confidence, and a sense of peace as you write your guide.
