Testimonials
The Caring to Care guide is an outstanding resource that helps families capture unique insights about their loved ones in a clear, user-friendly format. As a physician with experience supporting individuals living with developmental disabilities, I’m certain this tool will enhance health and quality of life. It includes essential details for smooth transitions and comfort—information that might otherwise remain unknown to caregivers when you’re not present.
I strongly encourage families to invest the time in completing this guide; it’s a meaningful step toward securing a bright, happy future for your loved one.

I have known my friend’s daughter her whole life. Even though we live a six-hour drive away, we try to visit a few times a year, at our respective homes and at various events in the surrounding areas.
This past September I was honoured to be asked by my friend to be the person responsible for her daughter when my friend was travelling. I wanted to be as prepared as possible.
The Caregiving Guide provided great insight. Even though I have known her daughter for many years, the Caregiving Guide provided me with helpful insight into her thoughts, needs, and actions. The background enabled me to better understand her daughter, and to act and respond appropriately so that she was comfortable, calm, and safe.
For example, she spends a lot of time on her own talking to herself and having conversations with imaginary people. Through the Caregiving Guide, I was able to understand that this was nothing to be concerned about and that it was her way of comforting herself and resolving problems.
When I was out with her, I knew to always have her in my sight. The Caregiving Guide detailed that she should not go out on her own since she can be trusting of strangers, if they were nice to her, and not be fully aware of possible safety concerns.
Her level of skill in various areas of personal hygiene, documented in the Caregiving Guide, helped to guide me in providing the assistance required in some areas, while stepping away and leaving her on her own in other areas.
Spending this time with her was very special. The Caregiving Guide is an essential document for anyone responsible for a special person.

I have watched Ann’s passion and determination to create Caring to Care since its initial concept. Her vision was to provide a document for parents that would guide them through the otherwise daunting process of completing a guide which would provide all the critical information about their loved one with exceptionalities.
The document is thorough, easy to use and simple to update because it is digital. It can be readily shared with whoever may need to take over the caregiving role of the parent, whether it be short-term (e.g., a vacation) or long-term.
This is truly an important process for parents when thinking about future planning. The future could be tomorrow.

Caring to Care is a comprehensive guide that lovingly and carefully guides families through the creation of a living document that empowers families to navigate the complexity of maintaining or creating an amazing everyday life for their loved one. Ann’s lived experience shines through on every page. Each section of the guide provides prompts and guiding questions that make the task of writing a detailed guide for future caregivers manageable and thorough.
Those of us who have had the experience of using Ann’s guide understand the value of this tool in reducing uncertainty and stress about the future of our adult children with disabilities.
